Oriana is one of the P&O Cruises six cruise ships and she is often considered to be the first cruise liner built specifically for the British market. At 69,153 tons the cruise ship Oriana joined the P&O cruises fleet in April 1995 at a cost of £200million to build. She is considered to be a medium sized ship by modern standards. The naming ceremony was performed in Southampton by Her Majesty, the Queen Elizabeth II.

Typically Oriana Cruises have up to 1,828 passengers travelling in 914 cabins spread over 10 decks. The cabins not only vary in size, from 150 square feet up to 500 square feet but in style as well, with a choice of suites with balconies to the usual internal cabins without windows.

News, P&O Cruises have announced a change to their smoking policy and each ship will have one dedicated internal public space for smoking. They will still allow smokin in cabins and balconies on Arcadia , Artemis, Aurora and Oriana, while smoking is not permitted in any cabins onboard Oceana or Ventura, but is allowed on the balconies.
